What is the CARVER Method?
A Security Vulnerability Assessment (SVA) is an understanding of the threats, weaknesses, and probability of attack, which could impact a facility, person, system or event.
As such, the CARVER Target Analysis and Vulnerability Assessment Methodology is a time-tested vulnerability assessment methodology that balances efficiency with reliability.
It is a unique analytical tool because it facilitates both a qualitative and a quantitative assessment of an asset’s vulnerabilities. Most assessment tools are limited to qualitative assessments. A quantitative assessment assists in highlighting vulnerabilities, prioritizing assets and remedial efforts.
Earn Your Certified CARVER Assessment Professional (CCAP) from The University of South Florida
Not only will you learn CARVER from one of its inventors - CIA legend Leo Labaj - but you will also earn your CCAP from the University of South Florida's Office of Continuing Education and Professional Development. The course is further eligible for 24 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) from ASIS-International. Finally, you will receive a digital token/badge which you can use on LinkedIn or any other electronic CV.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
The CARVER Target Analysis and Vulnerability Assessment Training Course is an interactive, three-day course on conducting facility vulnerability assessments. This highly popular course has been taught to thousands of students over the years from backgrounds ranging from military, law enforcement and intelligence professionals to commercial and private security practitioners.
The aim of the training is to become proficient in the use of the CARVER Methodology, in order to assist in the analysis and examination of the interrelationships between assets, threats, vulnerabilities and countermeasures that protect a facility, critical infrastructure and/or key assets.
Your instructor for the course is Leo “Godfather of CARVER” Labaj, who was instrumental in the development of the CARVER Methodology (back in the late 1960s/early 1970s) during his 26-year career as a bomb technician with the CIA’s Special Activities Division (SAD). Leo has traveled to nearly 100 countries in his nearly 50 years of security work and has performed thousands of vulnerability assessments.
